In Grenfell Tower, as flames roared strong,
Residents were told to 'stay put for too long'.
Decisions impacted by this misguided plea,
London Fire Brigade's error, plain to see.

Fear and confusion in the dark of night,
As flames consumed the tower's hapless height.
Residents trapped, their destiny uncertain,
A fatal error, lessons to be learnt.

In the aftermath of such tragedy,
With lives lost in the engulfing spree,
We must remember the cost of delay,
And heed the lessons of that fateful day.
